Acerra Clinic Investigation After Baby Born Dead in July
A newborn baby was delivered without life on 13 July at a clinic in Acerra, Italy. The parents filed a complaint with the Carabinieri on 20 July, alleging that fetal distress signs observed in an ultrasound and cardiotocography on 11 July were ignored.
The Nola public prosecutor opened an inquiry, registering the attending gynecologist as a suspect for a possible culpable interruption of pregnancy. An autopsy of the infant was ordered and carried out on 31 July to determine the cause of death and any medical responsibility. The investigation continues as the parents provide all clinical documentation to the authorities.
The case has drawn attention to potential negligence in obstetric care and is being examined by prosecutor Aurora Celico and her team.
