Angelino Clan crackdown: 34 arrested and 3.2 million euros seized in Naples
Italian authorities have launched a major crackdown against the Angelino clan, a Camorra criminal organization operating in the Caivano and Casoria areas of Naples. A massive operation led by the Carabinieri and the Naples District Anti-Mafia Directorate resulted in 34 arrests, including 23 individuals taken into custody and 11 placed under house arrest. In total, 47 people are under investigation for crimes including armed mafia association, drug trafficking, extortion, and possession of narcotics for sale.
During searches in the Bronx neighborhood of Caivano, investigators discovered over 3.2 million euros in cash hidden within the walls of an apartment. Additionally, luxury watches valued at more than 127,000 euros were seized. Prosecutors noted that the seized funds are significant enough to potentially finance a full year of investigative wiretapping.
In a separate criminal investigation in Pietracatella, Campobasso, authorities have reported a potential breakthrough in the double homicide of Antonella Di Ielsi and her daughter, Sara Di Vita. Forensic analysis by the Robert Koch Institute in Berlin identified traces of ricin on 131 items seized from the family home, including food and clothing. This finding suggests the perpetrator was present in the house at the time of the poisoning.
Additionally, in San Cataldo, the Prosecutor's Office has opened a file regarding the disappearance of two sisters, Benedetta and Domitilla. The children were located in a clothing store, and the premises have been seized as part of the ongoing investigation into potential kidnapping.
