Achaia Clauss winery hosts traditional harvest event in Patras

The historic Achaia Clauss winery in Patras held its ‘Open Harvest 2026’ event, offering visitors an immersive experience of the traditional wine production process. The event took place on Saturday, September 12, following a brief postponement due to a fire on September 5 that caused damage to the Daniilidis cellar and a nearby tower.

Participants engaged in various stages of the harvest, from manual grape picking to traditional crushing in wooden vats. The process included sorting, destemming, and the production of the first must. The estate, founded in 1861 by Bavarian Gustav Clauss, remains a central figure in the identity of Mavrodaphne wine production.
