Achema Group control dispute reaches Lithuanian Supreme Court

The legal dispute regarding the control of Achema Group has taken a new turn as the Supreme Court of Lithuania received a cassation appeal from former president Audrius Laurinaitis on August 21. A decision on whether to accept the appeal has not yet been made.

Previously, Laurinaitis filed a lawsuit seeking preemptive rights to acquire a controlling stake in the group, valued at approximately 303 million euros. He alleged that major shareholders Lyda Lubienė and Viktorija Lubytė ignored existing shareholder rights during attempted negotiations to sell the group to the Hungarian energy company MET Group.

MET Group eventually terminated its deal to acquire the group, citing unresolved internal shareholder disputes. Following the withdrawal of the initial lawsuit, the Court of Appeal terminated the civil case in May. Additionally, the Court of Appeal imposed a 2,500 euro fine on Laurinaitis for abuse of process and ordered him to cover various legal costs incurred by Achema Group.
