ACHI Project promotes climate-smart horticulture in Ghana

The Agricultural Colleges for Horticulture Innovation (ACHI) Project is training farmers in Ghana to adopt climate-smart techniques to increase yields on limited land. Through demonstration farms, such as the one located in Ejura, participants receive hands-on experience with modern technologies including drip irrigation, sprinklers, plastic mulch, hybrid seeds, and sticky traps for integrated pest management.

The four-year initiative, running from 2024 to 2028, aims to bridge the gap between classroom instruction and commercial horticulture demands. It is supported by the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO) and implemented by TU Delft and Holland Greentech in partnership with five agricultural colleges in Ghana. The project focuses on equipping students, graduates, and farmers with production skills and business knowledge to create a more profitable horticultural sector.
