Achiase resident dies following bee swarm attack

An 81-year-old woman, identified as Nana Afia Achiaa, has died following a bee attack in Achiase, located in the Atwima Nwabiagya North District of Ghana's Ashanti Region.

The incident occurred on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, between 5:30 pm and 6:00 pm. According to local reports, the deceased was outside the Achiase palace when she was swarmed. Residents attempted to repel the bees using insecticide spray before rushing her to a nearby hospital, where she was confirmed dead.

Community members noted that a swarm of bees has been a persistent issue in Achiase for approximately one year. Similar disturbances were reported in 2025, which led community leaders to perform rituals to appease local deities after dozens of residents were attacked.
