Achraf Hakimi faces French court over rape allegations

Moroccan international footballer Achraf Hakimi, who plays for Paris Saint-Germain, appeared before the criminal chamber of the Versailles Court of Appeal on Friday, 22 May 2026.

He is contesting a decision that sent his case to the departmental criminal court in Hauts‑de‑Seine, where he faces a rape charge alleged to have occurred in February 2023. Hakimi maintains his innocence, stating “I know this accusation is false,” and has left the matter to his lawyers.

The hearing follows a request by his defence to avoid a trial; the court will decide whether the referral to the criminal court will be upheld. No verdict has been issued.
