Achraf Hakimi to stand trial in France over rape allegations

French authorities have confirmed that Morocco captain and Paris Saint‑Germain defender Achraf Hakimi will face trial for a rape allegation made by a 24‑year‑old woman in 2023. An investigating judge ordered the case to proceed in February 2026, and the Versailles Court of Appeal rejected Hakimi’s request to dismiss the proceedings on 19 June 2026, clearing the way for a criminal trial. Hakimi has consistently denied the accusations and said he is prepared to defend himself in court.

The alleged incident occurred at Hakimi’s home in the Paris suburbs and was first reported in March 2023. The plaintiff’s lawyer welcomed the decision, saying it offers “relief and hope” and may help combat sexual violence in men’s sport.
