Achères man arrested for suspected murder of partner
A man has been arrested in Achères, Yvelines, on suspicion of murdering his partner during the night of Friday to Saturday. The Versailles prosecutor's office confirmed that the suspect, reportedly 47 years old, called the police himself and was taken into custody at the victim's residence.
The victim, reported to be 40 years old, was killed in what is being investigated as a potential femicide. The Versailles prosecutor has assigned the case to the Territorial Criminality Division (DCT).
This incident follows recent data from the Interministerial Mission for the Protection of Women (Miprof), which indicates an 11% increase in women killed by spouses or ex-spouses, rising from 96 in 2023 to 107 in 2024.
