Aci Catena robbery attempt foiled, suspect hospitalized

A 29‑year‑old man broke into a gastronomy in the Sicilian town of Aci Catena during the night, aiming to steal the cash register. The shop owner resisted, preventing the theft and forcing the intruder to abandon the plan.

During the struggle the suspect suffered serious injuries to two fingers and was taken to the Cannizzaro Hospital in Catania. Carabinieri from the Aci Catena station promptly secured the scene, reviewed surveillance footage and collected witness statements, which led to the filing of a formal complaint for attempted robbery against the man.
