ACI-LAC recognizes airport innovation and sustainability projects
During its Annual General Assembly, Conference, and Exhibition in Lima, Peru, the Airports Council International Latin America and the Caribbean (ACI-LAC) recognized various innovation and sustainability initiatives within the aviation sector.
In the Young Professional Award category, Gabriel Marcos de Morais Silva, Operations Coordinator at Recife International Airport in Brazil, was honored for his project titled “Beyond Recovery – A practical operational resilience plan against a cyberattack.” The proposal introduces a model to maintain security and passenger service during digital outages using tools such as an Operational Digital Twin and an integrated command center. The plan aims to recover critical functions within 72 hours while maintaining 90% operational continuity.
Additionally, the ACI-LAC issued the “Green Airport Recognition” to 19 initiatives focused on energy efficiency and environmental management. These awards evaluate how airports manage greenhouse gas emissions, waste recycling, and climate change adaptation, aligning with ICAO goals to reach net-zero emissions by 2050.
