Acipet proposes three measures to strengthen Colombia's energy sovereignty
At the XXIII Colombian Petroleum, Gas and Energy Congress in Bucaramanga, the Colombian Association of Petroleum Engineers, Energy and Related Technologies (Acipet) presented three proposals to the national government to strengthen energy sovereignty.
Acipet's first proposal focuses on recovering and maintaining the exploration of new oil and gas deposits in both onshore and offshore areas. The association also suggests designating strategic hydrocarbon projects as Projects of National Strategic Interest (PINES) to expand reserves and reduce import dependency.
The second proposal involves a plan to increase efficiency in mature fields through advanced recovery technologies. Acipet President Martha Villarreal emphasized that Colombia must maintain its oil and gas production capacity while simultaneously advancing a gradual transition to new energy sources.
