Acireale man arrested for armed extortion attempt at law office

A 56-year-old man has been arrested in Acireale for aggravated threats and attempted extortion involving a firearm. According to investigators, the man entered a law office in an altered state and brandished a pistol to demand 100,000 euros. The demand was reportedly linked to a civil dispute in which the man had lost the case.

Authorities from the Messina District Prosecutor's Office coordinated the investigation, which was aided by an audio recording of the encounter. The investigation revealed that the suspect had previously made serious threats against various individuals involved in the legal matter, including local politicians and a judge from the Court of Catania. The suspect is currently in custody in Catania.
