Dolly Parton shares health update and new career projects
Country music icon Dolly Parton has provided an update on her health, noting that she is dealing with medical issues she neglected while caring for her late husband, Carl Thomas Dean, who passed away in March 2025. Parton, 80, mentioned experiencing dizziness and dehydration, which recently led her doctors to advise against traveling, causing her to appear via video for the opening of a new attraction at her Dollywood theme park.
Despite these challenges, Parton remains professionally active. She recently accepted the ACM Poet’s Award virtually at the 19th ACM Honors in Nashville, where she described songwriting as her “therapy,” “release,” and “joy.”
Looking toward the future, Parton is exploring new ways to engage fans, including the development of “avatar performances” in collaboration with various companies. She is also moving forward with plans to open the Life of Many Colors Museum in Nashville to celebrate her career.
