Acosta Ñu Pediatric Hospital fire forces patient relocation

A short circuit caused a small fire and power outage in the emergency department of the Acosta Ñu Children's Pediatric Hospital in San Lorenzo on Sunday night. The electrical failure affected the energy distribution panel, cutting power to the emergency area and the preventive hospitalization sector.

Six children with respiratory issues were relocated to a contingency block within the same hospital to ensure continued care without needing external transfers. Hospital director Dr. Héctor Castro confirmed that all patients remain stable and that no staff or patients were placed in physical danger.

While laboratory and imaging services continue to operate normally, the emergency department is currently receiving cases on a limited basis. Additionally, the hospital's call center for outpatient appointments is temporarily out of service. Technical teams from the hospital, the Ministry of Public Health, and the National Electricity Administration (ANDE) are working to repair the damaged electrical lines.
