Acoustic research and contemporary music festivals highlight Italian cultural heritage

In Lucca, Villa Bottini has become a research laboratory for acoustic mapping through a collaboration between Musicalia APS and Oltremusica. Researchers are conducting scientific measurements to digitally reconstruct the sound behavior of the historic building's environments. This project, part of the ERC NEMUS initiative directed by Professor Michele Ducceschi at the University of Bologna, aims to understand how sound changes based on listener positioning within a room to preserve the acoustic footprint of historical sites.

Separately, the contemporary music festival ‘Suono Futuro’ will take place from September 25 to 27, 2026, in Fermignano. Held at the former Lanificio Carotti, the second edition of the festival focuses on the theme of ‘Rooms’ as spaces for listening and relationship. The program features diverse performers, including Roberto Paci Dalò, turntablist Mariam Rezaei, the vocal ensemble Libera Sonum, and pianist Emanuele Arciuli.
