ACPT Awards announce 2025/2026 theater nominations

The Association of Theater Critics and Journalists (ACPT) has announced the nominations for the 2025/2026 awards period. The ceremony is scheduled to take place on September 29 at the Teatro de la Ciudad Esperanza Iris in Mexico City.

‘Matilda, El Musical’ leads the nominations with 15 nods, including categories such as Musical of the Year, Best Cast, Best Set Design, and Best Costume Design. Other prominent productions include ‘Ángeles en América’ with 12 nominations and ‘Ride the Cyclone’ with 10. Works such as ‘Personas, Lugares y Cosas’ and ‘La Cumbia del Pantano’ received eight nominations each.

The jury evaluated over 200 works during the eligibility period. This year, the Lifetime Achievement Award in Theater will be presented to Luis de Tavira, recognized for his significant contributions as a director and educator in Mexico. The event is supported by the TEC de Monterrey Campus Estado de México.
