Acqui Terme hospital transfer faces union calls for clarity

The FP CGIL union is demanding clarity regarding the planned integration of the Acqui Terme hospital, known as ‘Monsignor Giovanni Galliano’, with the Azienda Ospedaliero-Universitaria di Alessandria.

According to the Piedmont Region’s 2025-2030 socio-sanitary plan, the administrative and healthcare management transfer must be completed by December 31, 2026. The regional goal is to strengthen the connection between the Acqui Terme facility and the Alessandria hospital to ensure continuous and integrated diagnostic and therapeutic services.

However, the union has expressed concerns over a perceived ‘stallo’ (stalemate) in the process. They are seeking specific information regarding the economic, regulatory, and employment implications of the transfer, with a particular focus on job security and the financial sustainability of the operation.
