ACR Messina adds forward Antonio Palumbo, eyes return of midfielder Oliver Kragl
Italian Serie C side ACR Messina has completed the signing of 18‑year‑old forward Antonio Palumbo. The former Reggina attacker, who scored the equaliser in the 1‑1 derby against Messina last season, joins the giallorossi on a contract aimed at bolstering the club’s attacking options. Palumbo is described as a versatile forward capable of playing on the wing or as a central striker, bringing speed and technical ability to a squad that is rebuilding its roster.
Messina is also in advanced talks to bring back German midfielder Oliver Kragl. The 33‑year‑old, a former club captain, expressed a desire to return to the Strait of Messina area, even if it means playing in the lower Eccellenza division. Negotiations have been facilitated by Racing City Group and sporting director Maurizio Pellegrino, who have kept dialogue open since Kragl’s contract termination three years ago. Kragl’s experience in Serie A, Serie B and abroad is seen as a potential boost for the team’s midfield.
