ACR Messina defeats Athletic Gioiosa 7-0 to reach cup quarterfinals

ACR Messina advanced to the quarterfinals of the Coppa Italia Eccellenza after a dominant 7-0 victory against Athletic Gioiosa. Following a 4-0 win in the first leg, the team utilized the return match to test tactical solutions and provide playing time to younger players and those who have seen less action in official matches.

Goals were scored by Bonanno, Loria, Langone, and Varela in the first half, with Doni, Bonanno (via penalty), and Pellegrino adding to the score in the second half. Athletic Gioiosa fielded a lineup composed entirely of under-age players.

Off the pitch, the club faces internal challenges, including a dispute with the municipal administration regarding the management of local sports facilities and the resignation of long-time team doctor Francesco Mento after 12 years of service.
