Acre authorities announce security investments amid rising crime statistics

The Civil Police of Acre has announced new investments to strengthen public security in the Vale do Juruá region. The initiative includes the delivery of new vehicles, over 30 Glock pistols, computers, a boat for the Identification Institute, and a new building for the Specialized Criminal Investigation Nucleus (NEIC) in Cruzeiro do Sul.

General Delegate Pedro Buzolin stated that the new boat will facilitate the delivery of National Identity Cards to remote communities. Additionally, a new public civil service exam is expected to be announced in 2026, following state legislative changes that allow successful candidates to undergo training as state employees.

In a separate report regarding regional safety, data from the National Public Security Information System (Sinesp) indicates that Acre recorded 435 cases of rape and rape of vulnerable persons during the first seven months of 2026. This averages approximately two victims per day. The data shows a rape rate per 100,000 inhabitants of 84 in Acre, which is significantly higher than the national average of 12.91.
