Acre authorities investigate food contracts and electoral disinformation

Several legal and police developments have emerged in Acre, Brazil. The Federal Public Ministry (MPF) has launched an inquiry to investigate potential irregularities regarding the procurement and supply of food for public school meals in the state.

In a separate matter, the Civil Police of Acre launched ‘Operação Algoritmo Cidadão’, executing six search and seizure warrants. The operation targets individuals suspected of involvement in a structure designed to disseminate fake news and conduct social media attacks during the electoral campaign.

Additionally, the Regional Electoral Court of Acre (TRE-AC) unanimously denied the registration request for former governor Gladson Cameli’s candidacy for the Senate. Legal defense efforts are currently underway to challenge this decision through the Superior Electoral Court (TSE) and the Supreme Federal Court (STF).
