Acre authorities mandate school safety updates and investigate rural power shortages

The Public Prosecutor's Office of the State of Acre (MPAC) has initiated legal and investigative actions to address infrastructure and service deficiencies in the state.

A court in Rio Branco has ordered the regularization of safety, health, and administrative standards for 12 public schools. These measures include obtaining Fire Department approval certificates and sanitary permits. The rulings apply to various state and municipal schools, including rural units such as São Pedro I and Recife I. Deadlines for compliance range from 30 to 180 days, with fines of up to R$ 1 million set for non-compliance.

Separately, MPAC is investigating the lack of electricity in the rural communities of Cavanhaque and Extrema in Cruzeiro do Sul. The investigation seeks to determine if residents are receiving adequate service or if they are being properly integrated into the 'Luz para Todos – Amazônia Legal' program via individual photovoltaic systems. The energy provider, Energisa, has stated that a conventional distribution network is technically unfeasible due to remote locations and environmental restrictions, proposing solar solutions instead.
