Acre civil defense warns of strong winds in Rio Branco amid reduced fire hotspots

The Rio Branco municipal civil defense office cautioned that wind gusts could reach 100 km/h in August and September, driven by high temperatures and cold air masses. Lt. Col. Cláudio Falcão said the expected gusts of 30–100 km/h could cause tree falls, roof damage, landslides, wall collapses and road blockages, urging residents to stay vigilant during the peak period.

In the same state, the 4th Battalion of the Acre Fire Department reported a notable decline in heat‑spot incidents in Cruzeiro do Sul for 2026, dropping from 38 spots the previous year to a share of 7.6 % of the state’s total. However, overall fire‑related calls remained stable, with 138 incidents handled from January to July 2026. Prevention efforts continue through the "Operação Fogo Controlado" program, deploying brigades and operational bases across the Juruá Valley to mitigate fire risks.
