Acre federal deputy elections to follow proportional system

In the 2026 elections, the state of Acre will elect eight federal deputies to the Chamber of Deputies. Unlike elections for governor or president, which rely on individual votes, the selection of deputies follows a proportional representation system.

Under this model, the outcome is determined by both individual candidate votes and the collective performance of the party or federation. The process begins with calculating the electoral quotient, which is derived by dividing the total number of valid votes by the number of available seats. Votes cast for a specific candidate also contribute to the total for their respective party or federation.

Voters are encouraged to verify candidate information, including names, numbers, and party affiliations, through the Superior Electoral Court (TSE). The TSE provides status updates on candidacies, such as whether they are approved, denied, or under appeal. For the voting process, voters are advised to use paper notes for candidate numbers, as mobile phones are prohibited in the voting booths.
