Acre Governor Mailza Assis says Zequinha Lima’s party exit is legal, no sanction
Governor Mailza Assis of the Brazilian state of Acre said that mayor Zequinha Lima’s departure from the Progressistas party is “legitimate and legal” after the mayor announced support for Senator Alan Rick’s pre‑candidacy for the state governorship. She clarified that the move does not constitute any party punishment and that no disciplinary measures will be taken. The comments were made at a press conference held during the opening of the second phase of the Avenida Ceará road complex. Lima had formally requested a temporary leave from the party until the end of 2026, but Assis emphasized that the decision follows normal party rules and that she will focus on governing the state rather than intervening in the internal party matter.
