Acre launches surgical campaign at Hospital Raimundo Chaar
The Acre State Health Secretariat (Sesacre) is conducting a surgical campaign through the ‘Opera Acre’ program at the Raimundo Chaar Hospital in Brasiléia. Between September 18 and 20, the initiative aims to perform between 60 and 70 surgical procedures to reduce elective surgery waiting lists in the Alto Acre region.
The procedures include gallbladder removals and hernia corrections, with an emphasis on minimally invasive videolaparoscopy to ensure faster recovery and less post-operative pain. The program serves residents of Brasiléia, Epitaciolândia, Xapuri, Assis Brasil, and patients near the borders of Peru and Bolivia.
During the event, Health Secretary José Bestene participated in a ceremony to name a hospital room after Odinázio Estevam Ribeiro, a laboratory technician who served the public health system for 33 years. Bestene also discussed proposals to implement a dedicated urgent and emergency hospital for the Alto Acre region.
