Acre leaders demand budget reforms and improved healthcare access

In Acre, Brazil, local leaders and union representatives are raising concerns regarding public administration and healthcare access. Rosana Nascimento, representing the Education Workers Union, has called for the Acre State Government to reduce unnecessary spending on events, property rentals, and commissioned positions. She argued that these savings should be redirected toward salary adjustments for public servants, particularly in the education sector, noting that many workers are currently facing financial hardship.

Separately, State Deputy Pedro Longo has urged the state government to urgently install hemodialysis services in the municipalities of Feijó and Tarauacá. He described the current situation as ‘inhumane,’ as renal patients must travel to Cruzeiro do Sul to receive treatment, often navigating precarious road conditions. The State Secretariat of Health (Sesacre) has acknowledged the issue and included the demand on its priority agenda.
