Acre police arrest eight suspects in gang-related homicide investigation

The Civil Police of Acre launched a new phase of ‘Operation Rupturas’ on Wednesday to investigate a homicide that occurred in March 2025 in the Cidade do Povo residential complex in Rio Branco. The operation, led by the Homicide and Person Protection Police Station (DHPP), resulted in eight arrest warrants being executed in the capital and within a prison unit, alongside search and seizure warrants.

The investigation, which has spanned over a year, suggests the crime is linked to a conflict between criminal organizations. Authorities believe a local faction split from another group following a merger of two criminal entities, leading to a series of conflicts that resulted in the execution of three residents in the Cidade do Povo area.
