Acre Police Civil destroys over half a ton of seized drugs

The Civil Police of Acre incinerated more than 500 kg of illegal substances seized in operations across Cruzeiro do Sul and other municipalities of the Juruá region. The destruction took place at a local brick‑kiln under a court order, with representatives from the Public Prosecutor’s Office and Health Surveillance present to ensure transparency.

The seized material included cannabis and cocaine, valued at roughly R$ 6 million in the Vale do Juruá market and potentially up to R$ 20 million if trafficked to larger Brazilian cities. Deputy Everton Carvalho, head of the Specialized Criminal Investigation Unit, said the incineration demonstrates accountability and weakens organized‑crime financing.

The police emphasized that the operation follows legal protocols after the completion of investigations, and the presence of oversight bodies guarantees the procedure’s safety and legitimacy.
