Acre reports decline in homicides but high number of attempted murders

Data from the National Public Security Information System (Sinesp) indicates that the Brazilian state of Acre saw a 22% reduction in intentional homicides between January and September 2026. During this period, there were 96 victims of homicide, compared to 123 during the same interval in the previous year.

Despite the drop in completed homicides, the state recorded 230 attempted homicides in the first nine months of 2026, a figure more than double the number of completed homicides. Rio Branco remains the location with the highest number of victims in both categories, accounting for 40 homicides and 104 attempted homicides.

Additionally, Sinesp reports that Acre recorded 361 missing persons between January and September 2026, with 33 disappearances occurring in September alone. While the state has the lowest absolute number of missing persons in Brazil, the figure represents a 24.48% variation compared to the same period in 2025.
