Acre reports leading economic growth and low income inequality
Acre has achieved the highest economic growth rate among Brazilian states, according to data from the IBGE and a ranking by the Centro de Liderança Pública (CLP). The state's economy is heavily driven by the services sector, which accounts for 85.35% of its added value to the GDP. Key contributors within this sector include public administration (40.8%), commerce and vehicle repair (14.2%), and real estate activities (12.4%).
Governor Mailza Assis attributed this performance to initiatives aimed at economic diversification and reducing reliance on the public sector. Investments have targeted productivity in agriculture and forestry, including cattle, swine, grains, and fruit production. Additionally, infrastructure investments and construction stimulus programs have contributed to job creation and local economic movement.
In terms of social indicators, Acre also ranks 9th nationally for having one of the lowest levels of income inequality among workers. Using the Gini Index, the state recorded a value of 0.457. Within the North Region, Acre is among the top three states for low income inequality, following only Tocantins and Rondônia.
