Brazil Sets 2026 Deadline for Updating Integral Education Rules

The National Education Council (CNE) issued Resolution CNE/CEB No 2 on 19 June 2026, requiring every state, municipality and the Federal District to revise all normative acts governing Integral Education in Full‑Time (Educação Integral em Tempo Integral) by 31 October 2026. The resolution revokes the earlier CNE/CEB No 1 and updates the National Operational Guidelines, mandating the review of resolutions, ordinances, instructional norms, curricular guidelines, school statutes and Political‑Pedagogical Projects (PPPs). Each entity must also create or amend a specific regulatory act for its own Integral Education policy, submit it to the respective education council and follow guidance from the Ministry of Education.

In Acre, the deadline applies to the state education secretariat and the 22 municipal education departments, prompting a review of existing documents and the preparation of new policies. The move is part of the federal strategy to expand full‑time schooling, which already places Acre among the ten Brazilian states with the highest share of high‑school students in integral schools (28 % in 2025). Schools in the state report that the model links classroom learning with practical electives, helping students discover interests and plan future careers.
