Brazilian candidates Ivonete Lima, Jorge Viana and Jairo Cassiano launch election bids

Senator Irajá Abreu (PSD) announced that pastor and public servant Ivonete Lima will run as a pre‑candidate for the federal Senate from Tocantins, with former governor Mauro Carlesse named as her substitute. Abreu said the decision was endorsed by party president Gilberto Kassab, stating “O presidente Gilberto Kassab referendou essa pré‑candidatura”.

In Acre, former senator Jorge Viana (PT) reiterated his Senate pre‑candidacy at the Expojuruá event, criticizing the state's lack of long‑term planning and pledging to attract investment, infrastructure and sustainable development if elected.

Also in Acre, ex‑mayor of Sena Madureira and state‑deputy hopeful Jairo Cassiano received public endorsement from the Igreja Batista do Bosque, with pastor Carlos Mariano declaring support for Cassiano’s “defense of the family” and commitment to social projects.
