Acre shows mixed results in State Competitiveness Ranking
The state of Acre has demonstrated contrasting results in the 2026 State Competitiveness Ranking, prepared by the Centro de Liderança Pública (CLP) with technical research from Tendências Consultoria. In terms of fiscal health, Acre achieved the second-best primary result in Brazil, which measures public accounts before interest payments. However, it ranked last (27th) in fiscal dependency, reflecting a high reliance on external resources rather than its own revenue generation.
Despite the low fiscal dependency score, Acre improved its overall position in the fiscal solvency pillar, moving from 23rd to 21st place nationally. Within the Northern region, the state ranks fifth in fiscal solvency, behind Pará, Amazonas, Roraima, and Rondônia.
In the area of innovation, Acre leads the Northern region in scientific research. It ranked 14th nationally with 21.8 points, surpassing neighboring states such as Amazonas (15th) and Amapá (17th). This indicator is calculated based on the weighted average of scientific research scores from higher education institutions, factoring in publications, citations, and resources captured by faculty.
