Acre elections 2026 conclude with peaceful voting and all-male legislature
The 2026 general elections in Acre, Brazil, concluded with officials reporting a peaceful process. The Regional Electoral Court (TRE-AC) noted that the elections ran smoothly, with only 11 electronic voting machines requiring replacement and 11 minor police occurrences reported to the Federal Police.
The results for the State Legislative Assembly (Aleac) highlight the complexities of the proportional representation system. While some candidates received high vote counts, others remained as alternates due to party performance. Notably, the election resulted in an all-male legislature for the upcoming term, despite women making up over 52% of the state's electorate.
In the race for federal deputies, Nicolau Júnior emerged as a leading figure. Conversely, the election saw extreme outliers, including candidates receiving as few as one or even zero votes. The preliminary results also indicate a likely second round for the governorship of the state.
