Acroarte honors journalists at 15th Merit Prize ceremony

The Association of Art Chroniclers (Acroarte) held the 15th edition of the Acroarte Journalism Merit Prize in Santo Domingo. The ceremony honored professionals for their commitment and contributions to specialized journalism in the fields of art and entertainment.

Among the honorees was journalist, writer, and analyst Juan Taveras Hernández, who was recognized for a career spanning more than 40 years in Dominican journalism. The award highlighted his diverse work as a reporter, columnist, commentator, producer, host, and writer across print, radio, and television. Taveras Hernández specifically noted his 42-year tenure at the newspaper El Nacional and credited the influence of his mentor, Ramón Gómez Pepín. The event served to emphasize the importance of art chronicles and the role of journalists in promoting national culture and artistic expression.
