Acroarte to honor journalist Juan Taveras Hernández at 2026 Gala

The Association of Art Chroniclers (Acroarte) has announced that the XV Acroarte Journalism Merit Award Gala, scheduled for September 1, 2026, will be dedicated to journalist and writer Juan Taveras Hernández.

The tribute recognizes Hernández for his 50-year professional career and his contributions to communication, culture, and society in the Dominican Republic. Acroarte president Marivell Contreras noted that Hernández has become a reference point for art chronicles, demonstrating that entertainment journalism can maintain high cultural and literary standards.

Hernández, a graduate in Social Communication and Law, has a diverse career spanning print, radio, television, and digital media. He currently directs the newspaper La Razón and hosts the musical program ‘Las Favoritas de Juan TH’. His previous work includes roles at El Nacional and Z-101, and he was awarded the Order of Merit of Duarte, Sánchez, and Mella in 2002.
