Acropolis exclusive access allegations raised by archaeologist

Archaeologist Despoina Koutsoumpa has raised serious allegations regarding exclusive access to the Acropolis during a recent full moon event. In a video shared on social media, Koutsoumpa questioned why the monument was opened to a select group of individuals outside of standard operating hours, noting that the site is typically closed to the public at night for security reasons.

Koutsoumpa directed inquiries toward the Ministry of Culture, asking who authorized the access and whether any payments or exchanges were involved. She highlighted that staff from the Ephorate of Antiquities were reportedly unaware of the opening. The archaeologist argued that such incidents represent a form of ‘appropriation’ of monuments, suggesting that certain individuals are being granted privileges that are not available to the general public.
