Acropolis: Ministry clarifies presence of individuals at the site
The Greek Ministry of Culture has addressed public inquiries regarding the presence of individuals at the Acropolis on the night of Friday, August 28. Following social media discussions sparked by images of people at the sacred rock during the August Full Moon celebrations, the Ministry clarified that the site was not open to the general public for the event.
The Ministry stated that the presence of individuals was part of a sanctioned artistic activity, specifically a rehearsal by the Hellenic Symphony Orchestra of Youth in preparation for an upcoming event. This activity had been reviewed and approved by the Central Archaeological Council (KAS).
Separately, social media users expressed criticism regarding a military unit's performance during a flag lowering ceremony at the Acropolis. Observers noted a lack of coordination and inconsistent marching among the soldiers, leading to online debates regarding the training and preparation of the unit involved.
