Across Plaza Toyama Kakeo commercial complex opens in Toyama

The Across Plaza Toyama Kakeo commercial complex officially opened on September 18 in Toyama City, Japan. Located on the grounds of the Toyama City Public Local Wholesale Market, the facility was developed through a partnership between Toyama City and a group including Daiwa House Industry.

Key tenants that opened include the Al Plaza Foods Market Toyama Kakeo, operated by Shiga-based Heiwado. This marks Heiwado’s first new store in Toyama Prefecture in 26 years. The supermarket leverages its proximity to the wholesale market to offer fresh produce and seafood directly from the market. Additionally, Super Sports Xebio opened, offering specialized equipment and services such as 3D foot scanning and AI-driven shoe diagnostics.

The development is part of a larger revitalization project. A large Yamada Denki electronics store is scheduled to open on September 25, and a dining wing featuring a “Showa retro” theme is expected to launch in February 2026.
