ACRUGA honors retiring cattle ranchers for breed conservation

The National Association of Select Cattle Breeders of the Rubia Galega Breed (ACRUGA) held a ceremony to honor professional cattle ranchers who retired during 2025. During the event, political leaders praised the retirees for their role in maintaining and conserving the native Rubia Galega breed, which is considered a point of pride for the region.

María José Gómez, the Conselleira of the Rural Sector, highlighted the importance of these professionals in the history of local livestock farming and noted how the sector has adapted to new technologies. Additionally, Francisco Cajoto, Deputy of Sustainable Resources, emphasized the ability of ranchers to modernize agriculture while preserving traditions. The ceremony also marked the departure of César Dorado Pin from the presidency of ACRUGA.
