ACS Manufacturing transitions Laguna facilities to 100% renewable energy
ACS Manufacturing Corporation has transitioned its two primary manufacturing facilities in Laguna, Philippines, to 100% renewable energy. The company, which produces household brands such as Pride Detergent, Shield Bath Soap, and Unique Toothpaste, secured this transition through a retail electricity supply agreement with ACEN RES, the retail electricity unit of the Ayala group.
The electricity will be sourced from ACEN’s portfolio of solar, wind, and geothermal power assets. This shift was facilitated by the Philippine government’s Retail Competition and Open Access (RCOA) and Retail Aggregation Program (RAP), which allow eligible businesses to bypass traditional local franchise utilities to negotiate their own sustainable energy solutions.
Through this partnership, ACS Manufacturing is projected to avoid approximately 4,270 metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent emissions annually. CEO Mai Supetran stated that the move is a strategic effort to align manufacturing processes with environmental commitments while enhancing operational efficiency.
