ACTECH chemical plant accident in Ouro Preto injures six workers

On 24 July, a chemical incident involving sodium hydroxide at the ACTECH Alumina Chemical Technology plant in Ouro Preto, Brazil, injured six employees. Four workers received medical care and were released the same day, while two remain hospitalized in stable condition. ACTECH confirmed that no fatalities occurred and said its internal emergency response protocol was activated immediately after the event. The company announced it is providing full assistance to the injured workers and their families and is conducting an internal investigation in line with safety procedures and applicable legislation. Sodium hydroxide, a highly corrosive substance used in alumina production, can cause severe skin burns, eye damage and respiratory injury if mishandled.
