Rio de Janeiro officials and hotel industry hold meetings on mobility, training and municipal support

On 15 June hotel managers from Barra da Tijuca and Recreio dos Bandeirantes met at the Courtyard by Marriott, led by HotéisRIO president Alfredo Lopes, with the sub‑prefect of the area and the municipal infrastructure secretary. They reviewed city‑approved projects such as a new lane configuration on Avenida Ayrton Senna, duplication of the bridge over the Arroio Fundo canal, a new rotunda and other link‑road works aimed at easing traffic in the hotel‑dense southwest zone.

On 1 July the ABIH‑RJ programme PROENH‑RJ held a strategic gathering in Rio das Ostras’s SEDTUR. Coordinated by ABIH‑RJ state chief Alexandre Moraes and attended by tourism secretary Pablo Kling, the event focused on training hoteliers for the upcoming high season and on aligning the state’s tourism boost with the DESCUBRA‑RJ initiative.

The following day, acting governor Ricardo Couto convened a meeting at Palácio Guanabara with mayors of nine municipalities—including Maricá, Nova Iguaçu and Rio das Ostras—to hear local demands, discuss balanced allocation of state resources and plan the phased restart of works. In the same session Maricá mayor Washington Quaquá praised the governor’s fiscal reforms and highlighted the cooperative stance with President Lula.

Separately, Lagune Barra Hotel in Rio de Janeiro earned Tripadvisor’s Travellers’ Choice 2026 seal, ranking it among the platform’s top‑10 % worldwide. General manager Átila Sousa said the award reflects consistent positive guest feedback.
