Action retailer plans US expansion and rapid product rotation

Discount retailer Action is implementing a high-frequency product rotation strategy, introducing approximately 150 new items to its shelves every week. Of its roughly 6,000 products, only about one-third are permanent fixtures, while the remainder rotates frequently. This strategy can trigger a sense of scarcity or 'FOMO' (fear of missing out) among consumers.

The company operates over 3,300 stores across 14 countries. In Germany, Action had approximately 650 locations and employed 15,500 people by the end of 2025. Action plans significant international growth, including expansion into Croatia in March 2026, followed by Slovenia in 2027 and Bulgaria.

Looking toward the United States, the retailer aims to open its first store in the Southeast by late 2027 or early 2028, with a goal of operating 100 US locations by 2030. The company has set a target to open at least 400 new stores in Europe during 2026.
