ActionSA and AZAPO unveil manifestos for 2026 local elections

South African political parties ActionSA and AZAPO have unveiled their manifestos ahead of the 2026 Local Government Elections scheduled for November 4.

ActionSA launched a nine-point plan in Johannesburg focused on strengthening municipalities through financial discipline and revenue growth. Party leader Herman Mashaba emphasized the need for credible, fully funded budgets, the reduction of wasteful spending, and improved billing systems to ensure accurate resident charges. Mashaba also pledged to combat corruption and criminality within municipal structures while aiming to provide services to both affluent areas and townships.

In Benoni, AZAPO released a manifesto based on its Black Consciousness tradition. Party leader Nelvis Qekema outlined a vision for accountable administration and community-centered development. The party’s platform focuses on public participation, infrastructure maintenance, and protecting public funds, positioning itself as an alternative for voters seeking governance reform and greater community control over local development.
