Actis launches Leo Energies to target 3 GW renewable portfolio in India

Sustainable infrastructure investor Actis has launched Leo Energies, its fourth renewable energy platform in India. The platform aims to build a portfolio exceeding 3 GW of onshore wind, solar, and battery storage assets.

Leo Energies has already signed agreements to acquire approximately 650 MW of solar capacity across the Indian states of Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Karnataka, and Andhra Pradesh. These projects are secured under long-term power purchase agreements with central enterprises, state discoms, and commercial and industrial consumers. Of these acquisitions, roughly 160 MW have already closed, including a 110 MW C&I solar portfolio from TrueRE Oriana Power acquired at an enterprise value of approximately ₹5.01 billion.

This initiative follows Actis’s previous Indian renewable platforms, including Ostro Energy, Sprng Energy, and BluPine Energy. The firm has deployed roughly $1.5 billion in equity capital within India’s energy sector to date, managing nearly 10 GW of installed generation capacity.
