Active longevity advice highlights strength, balance and hydration for adults over 50

Maintaining functional strength, balance and joint mobility is presented as essential for everyday independence after age 50. Recommended weekly activity includes 150–300 minutes of moderate aerobic exercise, strength training on at least two days, and for those over 65, multicomponent exercises focused on balance and functional strength to prevent falls.

Adequate daily hydration of roughly 1.5 liters is also emphasised, with water supporting muscle elasticity, tendon flexibility and joint lubrication. Proper fluid intake helps reduce perceived muscle stiffness and supports posture during prolonged sitting or repetitive tasks.
