Activision Investigates Security Flaw in Call of Duty: Black Ops on PS5

A modder identified a vulnerability in the save‑file encryption of Call of Duty: Black Ops for PS5, allowing players with a jail‑broken console to modify statistics and ranks. Activision confirmed the issue, removed affected playlists and announced an active investigation and forthcoming patch to close the flaw inherited from the PlayStation 3 architecture.

At the same time, the Black Ops series has achieved strong commercial performance on the PS5 platform. According to Sony’s internal data, Black Ops 2 recorded 5.25 million U.S. players in its launch week, while the original Black Ops attracted 1.9 million U.S. players, placing both titles among the most‑played games on the console.
